What probably surprises nobody, is that I am an avid gamer. I’ve poured hours and hours into fantasy games across the span of ~20 years. World of Warcraft, Halo, Destiny, every installment of The Elder Scrolls (and yes, every version of Skyrim…). My total playtime combined probably frightens most. It might seem wasteful to many. But to me, it’s always been a way of releasing pressure. Reducing my stress by escaping into a fantasy world, just for a little while, and forget about the burdens around me.

Recently, I’ve discovered a new game-type that seems to hook me. As the years are adding up (pushing 35), I realize I can’t keep up with the lightning fast reflexes of the other gamers anymore. So I’ve turned to games that are more relaxing and rewarding to play. Think of Classic WoW, Cities Skylines and, surprisingly, Tiny Glade.

Building Tiny Glades, One Click at a Time

Especially that last one seems to hit a note with me. Tiny Glade is calming, has no clear purpose other than creating whatever comes to mind with a few easy clicks. As the name implies, it’s about creating Tiny Glades. It’s beautifully animated, has a great art-style and most of all, anyone can succeed in it. Since there is no measure of success, no achievements to hunt, no other players to compete with. It’s simply calming, soothing and relaxing for your brain.

For the last two weeks I’ve been building to my heart’s content, and also recording what I’ve been creating. Another long-standing but underutilized hobby of mine is Video and Photography. This game allows me to do both as I’ve started creating videos and uploading them to YouTube. So far so good: a few video’s, a couple hundred views and a few subscribers.

Nothing fancy and I don’t intend to become a major Youtuber with this, that would take too much time and add stress to a game that should relieve it. Feel free to subscribe if you like! Anything goes!

But I do invite you to have a look as well, and of course if you like the game to support the developers by getting it yourself on Steam. I am not affiliated with them, this is pure promotion based on a great experience. (See how easy that is, AAA-studios?..)
